2025 was a year of quiet, steady painting for me. Without the usual rhythm of markets, I spent much more time in the studio exploring ideas and letting different themes develop naturally.
Many of the works from this year reflect my ongoing interest in storytelling through symbolism and atmosphere. Pieces like The Last Bird Who Knew My Song, The Keeper of Secrets, and The Stars Forgot My Name explore dreamlike landscapes and symbolic objects, birds, moons, crystals and keys, that hint at inner worlds and personal meaning.
Alongside these more imaginative works, I also continued my figurative paintings inspired by literature, particularly Pride and Prejudice. Paintings such as Let Him Be Proud – I Prefer Better Company and Not Handsome Enough to Tempt Me capture moments of quiet character and emotion drawn from Jane Austen’s world.
Still life also played a strong role in my work this year. Pieces like Simple Offerings, Fruit and Other Complications, and Casual Arrangements allowed me to focus on colour, pattern and everyday beauty, small scenes that feel both intimate and joyful.
Although 2025 became a quieter public year than expected, it turned into a valuable time for building a body of work and experimenting with ideas. I’m now looking forward to sharing many of these paintings in person as I prepare for several exhibitions and markets in the coming year.
More updates soon as the 2026 events calendar begins to take shape.
